How to cook plantain using an air fryer

To cook plantain in an air fryer, start by peeling and slicing ripe plantains into evenly sized pieces (diagonal or rounds, about 1/4–1/2 inch thick). Coat or spray the slices lightly with oil and arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they aren't overcrowded.
Method
Preheat the air fryer to 375–380°F (190–193°C).
Air fry plantains for 8–12 minutes, flipping halfway through for even cooking.
Check for a golden-brown, crispy exterior and tender interior. Add an extra 1–2 minutes if you want a deeper caramelisation.
Sprinkle a pinch of salt when hot, if desired, and serve immediately.
Tips
Use ripe plantains (yellow to black skin) for sweet, caramelised chips, or less ripe (green/yellow) for a firmer, savoury snack.
Avoid overcrowding to ensure crispiness; cook in batches if needed.
For a tostones (twice-fried style), flatten the slices after an initial air fry, brush with oil, and cook a second time.
Air-fried plantains make a delicious, healthy snack or side, lower in oil and calories than pan-fried versions.
